Bert Darakorn
Bert Darakorn went to law school with the goal of becoming a civil-rights lawyer. He attended the University of Cincinnati College of Law, then nationally recognized for its human-rights program, and worked on Human Rights Quarterly. He later clerked with Thailand’s Supreme Court on intellectual-property and international-trade matters before beginning his legal career in entertainment law and private practice.
His career later took him into building and operating several businesses. Those years gave him a broader perspective beyond legal practice and firsthand understanding of the difficulties individuals can face when dealing with businesses, institutions, or systems with far greater resources.
Bert returned to law to pursue the path that first drew him to the profession: helping people who need the law on their side. He believes equal access depends on a willingness to enforce legal rights, and that civil-rights laws give individuals a way to demand that promise be kept.
